Dog bag dispenser installed near the top
If you walk the road only, you may not have noticed that there's now a dog bag dispenser near the top. It's down the nature trail just a bit to discourage people who drive to the top from grabbing "free take home bags." We think it's a good location because an empty dispenser doesn't do anyone any good. There is also a brand new dispenser at the trailhead. So far so good. There is one more planned, but we have to collect some data first to see if that one will work out.

Dog Hooks Are Installed. Enjoy!
You may not have realized it, but it's always been illegal to use the restroom when walking your dog. You're not permitted to have your dog in the restroom and you can't leave it unattended either. Thanks to several people who suggested it last year, and to park manager Susan Bethers who adjusted the rules, we now have three new dog hooks installed. Just hook your dog's leash to the hook, go use the facilities, and you're ready to continue your hike/run.
Turns out that dog hooks are not common even though dog owners REALLY want them. Now Pilot Butte is one of the few places that meets this important need. Btw, the next project going in should be a new dog bag station on top of the Butte. We've had it several months but the Park has been waiting for warmer weather to install it.
